The Death Of Language

So I was reading through Youtube comments (a practice that I don’t recommend; it’s depressing) when I found this…thing:

“wtf freds da #i most subscribed his vids r stupid…i no sum of u guys r gonna say den y r u watchin it if u dont like fred well imm watchin it because i wanted to give fred a chance since hes most subscribed but his vids r stupid i dont think dare funny nd i dont no y hes most subscribed”

What?!

“i” isn’t a fucking number!

“imm”?! What the fuck does “imm” mean?!

“i don’t think dare funny”?! Are you fucking serious?!

No one has any idea what you’re trying to say because you’re too fucking stupid to even know how to say it!

Well then again maybe that’s a good thing because your opinion’s probably worthless anyway.

I hate people.

If you want to watch the video that this…thing…was posted on, go here, though be prepared to cover your ears.

Another Word for Censorship

At Springfield High School, the bell between third and fourth period rings and 1,450 students pour into crowded hallways. The students congregate, joke, and jostle with one another.

Michael, a sophomore wearing headphones and a blue sweatshirt, knocks into Chris’s backpack, and Chris calls out, “Watch it, fag!”

An English teacher standing in her doorway overhears the disrespectful language. She sighs, thinks about interrupting the student banter, and then smiles as she realizes she doesn’t need to say anything. A third boy, uninvolved, hears what happened. “Hey, Michael,” he says, “use another word, please, OK?”

That was an excerpt from an article by Nancy Meltzwhatever (intentional misspelling) about a high school initiative (what?) to eliminate phrases such as ‘that’s so gay’, ‘what up, my nigga?’ and basically anything with ‘fag’ in it, by telling the offensive person/vulgar-beast to please “Use another word.”

Yes, because telling them to use a word other than fag will get them to use nice people words instead of coming up with a different word that means the same thing. Oh, I can just imagine:

Vulgar-beast: “Hey, you watch it, fag!”
Idiot: “Please use another word.”
Vulgar-beast: “Hey, you watch it, queer!”
Idiot: “Please use another word.”
Vulgar-beast: “…Hey, you watch it, homo?”
Idiot: “Please use another word.”
Vulgar-beast: “….”
Idiot: “Please use another word.”

It’s almost like the idiot’s asking for a password that the vulgar-beast can never hope to guess.

Anyway, just some more politically correct bullshit intended to make people into uniform little drones with no independent thoughts or opinions, all in the name of “stopping discrimination” (because merely calling someone a name amounts to discrimination now).

You can read the rest of Nancy Meltzomething’s article here.
